Slump for Wii Sales in Japan

Wii sales in Japan have hit a rough patch. For the first time since the system was introduced, the sales of the Wii are down in the Japanese market.
As of April 2009, the sales of the console were down by 63% from last year. Sales of the Playstation 3 actually exceeded those of the Wii in the last month.
Analysts suspect the sales slump in Japan could be a harbinger of the Wii's fate in other markets. Wii executives are ruling out a price cut, but they have acknowledged the sales slump.
"I have to say that Wii is experiencing the most unhealthy condition ever since it hit the Japanese market," commented Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
