Nintendo Wii Price Likely to Fall

The Nintendo Wii price has remained the same since its debut several years ago. However, in light of the economy and slumping sales, Nintendo is likely to drop the price of the console soon.

The price drop is expected to hit in time for the holiday season, around October or November. The new price is expected to be $199.

Nintendo hopes the price cut will move it closer to its goal of selling 26 million Wiis this fiscal year. The new price of the Wii will tie the console with the XBOX 360 Arcade bundle for the lowest-priced system.

Microsoft is expected to respond to the Wii's price cut by lowering the cost of the Arcade bundle to $179. The company may also include extra software in the package to make it more attractive than the Wii.
